Overview
Spec4AI Studio is a local-first Android application that turns your phone into an AI-controlled platform. The app itself collects no personal data and makes no outbound network requests to our servers. Everything is stored on your device and communicated directly with your own desktop computer over your local Wi-Fi network.
Any AI processing (chat responses, web searches, image analysis, app building) is performed by Spec4AI Link — a separate desktop application you install on your own Mac, Windows, or Linux computer. What happens to your AI requests depends entirely on which AI backend you configure in Spec4AI Link. If you choose a local LLM, nothing leaves your network. If you choose a cloud AI provider, your requests go to that provider under their own privacy policy — that is your deliberate choice, not ours.
What the App Does
Spec4AI Studio runs a local MCP (Model Context Protocol) server on your Android device. This server exposes your phone's capabilities — camera, location, contacts, calendar, storage, and more — as tools that can be called by AI assistants running on your desktop. The app also hosts mini-apps (micro-apps) that run entirely within the device.
- All app data (micro-apps, tasks, notes, settings) is stored locally in an encrypted database on your device.
- Tool results (e.g. a photo taken, a calendar event read) are returned to your desktop and displayed there. They are not stored on any Spec4AI server.
- No usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports are collected.
Desktop Connectivity
Spec4AI Studio communicates with Spec4AI Link on your desktop over your local Wi-Fi network. This connection is:
- User-initiated — you must explicitly pair devices by entering a 6-digit PIN shown on your phone into the Spec4AI Link app on your desktop.
- Peer-to-peer on your network — data travels directly between your phone and your computer. No content passes through Spec4AI servers.
- Cryptographically secured — connections use Ed25519 key pairs and HMAC-SHA256 tokens derived from a shared secret established during pairing.
- Revocable at any time — you can unpair devices from within the app settings.
AI Processing — Your Choice
All AI intelligence comes from Spec4AI Link, which runs on your own desktop computer. Spec4AI Link supports multiple AI backends, and you choose which one to use:
- Local LLM (fully offline) — models like LM Studio or on-device Llama run entirely on your computer. Nothing leaves your network. Your requests are completely private.
- Cloud AI providers — if you configure a cloud AI (such as Claude by Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini), your requests are sent to that provider's servers under their privacy policy. This is your deliberate configuration choice. Spec4AI has no visibility into the content of these requests. Applicable policies: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google.
Spec4AI Studio (the Android app) does not know which AI backend you have configured. It simply sends requests to your desktop and receives results — the AI provider is invisible to the app.
Device Permissions
Spec4AI Studio may request device permissions when a micro-app or an AI-initiated tool call requires them. Permissions are:
- Requested on demand — only when a specific feature needs them, not at install time.
- Fully optional — you can deny any permission. The relevant feature will be unavailable, but the rest of the app works normally.
- Used locally — data accessed via permissions (location, contacts, photos, etc.) is used to fulfill the immediate request and returned to your desktop. It is not stored on Spec4AI servers.
- Revocable — you can revoke any permission at any time through your Android Settings > Apps > Spec4AI Studio > Permissions.
Permissions used by the app include: Camera (QR pairing, photo analysis), Microphone (voice input), Location (maps and nearby searches), Contacts (contacts micro-apps), Calendar (calendar micro-apps), Photos/Storage (file and image tools), Notifications (reminders), Bluetooth and Nearby Wi-Fi Devices (optional device discovery tools).
No Analytics, No Ads, No Tracking
Spec4AI Studio contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, no crash reporting services, and no tracking pixels. We do not know how you use the app, how often you open it, or what features you use. The app does not contain any advertisements.
In-App Purchases
Spec4AI Studio offers an optional Creator Mode subscription processed through the Google Play Store. We do not directly handle, see, or store any payment information. All purchase processing is governed by Google Play's Privacy Policy.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling the app removes all associated data. You can also:
- Delete individual micro-apps and their data from within the app.
- Unpair from your desktop to remove all pairing credentials.
- Clear all app data from Android Settings > Apps > Spec4AI Studio > Storage > Clear Data.
If you used a cloud AI provider through Spec4AI Link, that provider's data retention policies apply to any requests sent to their servers. Please refer to the respective provider's policy for data deletion requests.
Children
Spec4AI Studio is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app requires a desktop computer to use its core AI features, which is not typical use for young children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated via an updated effective date on this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
